**Customer Service Assistant 2 (CSA 2)**

**As Ohios Secretary of State, Frank LaRose is doing his part to deliver a thriving democracy and a prosperous economy for all Ohioans. In his role as the states chief elections officer, he is working to ensure that Ohios elections are both secure and accessible. And, as the first stop for new businesses in the Buckeye State, he is assisting entrepreneurs as they receive articles of incorporation for a new business.**

**The Ohio Secretary of State is currently seeking candidates for a CSA2. The duties of the CSA 2 position include but are not limited to:**

Under general direction of Elections Operations Administrator, creates & generates certificates & commissions issued by Ohio Secretary of State (e.g. appointed & elected officials certificates of election & governors commissions; researches technical inquiries; answers phone & responds to complaints or inquiries from general public, or directs caller to appropriate division of agency; assists customers regarding submitting election documents by explaining applicable laws, policies & regulations, sort, track & mail voter registration, absentee request forms & other election related material upon request; updates data or information into file or database (e.g. candidate listings, petition logs, local issue summaries, rosters, inventory records); proofs documents; prepares spreadsheets & progress reports upon request.

Conducts searches in order to assist public with determining voter status, polling location & locating election related publications; assists public in use of agency website; assists public with routine computer or software issues as they arise which affect callers ability to use computer systems; opens, timestamps, sorts & distributes mail; receives, records & distributes ballot language from boards of elections to Secretary of State administrators for review.

Assists with preparation &/or technical mailing of election related documents or projects (e.g. petitions, conference & board training manuals, question & issue handbook); represents Elections Division at office sponsored events; attends & participates in meetings as requested; assists with testing election night reporting system; assists with reviewing, proofing & providing input on reports for election night reporting system; assists in monitoring election night reporting; receives payment for transactions & applicable documentation of cash or checks for commissions, filing & copier fees in compliance with office accounting procedures; closes work reports & balances receipts of all funds associated with documents so that all items are reconciled; inventories & prepares election records for storage; receives, updates & maintains files for municipal charters; receives, updates & maintains files for 88 county central & executive committees of political parties; receives, updates & maintains files & database for municipal incorporations & dissolution of municipal incorporations; updates & maintains elected official listings.

Performs other general duties (e.g. types various materials, photocopies, fax, files); responsible for delivery of sensitive documents to other state agencies; assists other agency employees including temporary employees with routine, non-complex tasks.

**Qualifications**

9 mos. trg. or 9 mos. exp. in office practices & procedures; 9 mos. trg. or 9 mos. exp. in public relations or customer service that included techniques for handling difficult people; 9 mos. trg. or 9 mos. exp. in typing, keyboarding, data entry or word processing; 9 mos. trg. or 9 mos. exp. in operation of personal computer. -Or equivalent of Minimum Qualifications for Employment noted above. Knowledge of office practices & procedures; public relations; federal &/or state laws, rules, policies &/or procedures applicable to inquiries, complaints &/or transactions being processed;* typing/keyboarding. Skill in operation of office equipment (e.g., multi-line or single line telephone, photocopier, facsimile machine, teletype, cash register/cash counter, adding machine);* operation of personal computer or computer terminal. Ability to apply laws, rules, policies &/or procedures applicable to routine & non-routine inquiries, requests, complaints &/or transactions involving variety of variables within familiar context; handle routine & non-routine inquiries, requests, complaints &/or transactions received in writing &/or by telephone, teletype, e-mail, in-person contacts &/or by other means of communication with variety of internal & external customers, some of whom may be irate; collate & classify information about data, people or things; prepare &/or maintain accurate records & reports; work alone on most tasks.

The office offers a Career Improvement Program (CIP), through the Union Education Trust (UET) which bargaining unit employees are eligible for tuition reimbursement up to a maximum of $4,000 per fiscal year.
