Description:

Job Title: Data Scientist – National Security Risk Modeling

Location: Columbus, OH (Onsite)

Type: Long-term Contract (Potential for Full-time Hire)

Clearance: U.S. Citizenship required; ability to obtain DoD Secret clearance

Are you passionate about applying data science to projects that truly matter? Join a highly specialized team at the forefront of national defense and public safety. We're working with a premier research and development organization that supports U.S. government agencies on critical missions—including assessing the risks of CBRNE (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and Explosives) threats.

This is a unique opportunity to work on high-impact projects that shape national preparedness and emergency response strategies. You'll collaborate with a team of data scientists, physicists, and engineers to conduct quantitative risk assessments, develop simulation models, and present technical findings to both scientific and non-technical stakeholders.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead or support the execution of annual risk assessments related to national security threats.
  • Optimize and maintain an existing risk modeling system.
  • Analyze data and communicate results to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Write technical documentation and annual reports summarizing methods and results.
  • Participate in regular client meetings to report on project progress.

What We're Looking For:

  • Bachelor's degree + 5 years of experience, Master's + 2 years, or Ph.D. in Physics, Mathematics, Engineering, or related field.
  • Solid understanding of advanced math (calculus, differential equations, linear algebra).
  • Proven experience with technical communication and documentation.
  • U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in data science, modeling & simulation, quantitative risk assessment, or statistical analysis.
  • Programming experience in C++, C#, Java, or similar.
  • Familiarity with machine learning, AI, or NLP techniques.
  • Technical writing and data visualization experience.
  • Active DoD clearance (Secret or Top Secret) is a plus.

This is more than just a data science role—it's your chance to make a real-world impact by contributing to efforts that keep our country safe. The work is intellectually challenging, collaborative, and mission-driven.

If you're interested in applying your analytical skills to a cause that truly matters, we'd love to hear from you!
