NATURE OF WORK:

The Transit Director is an appointed (non-classified) position that reports to the Mayor. This position is responsible for leveraging innovative solutions and best practices in the overall management of the administration and operations of CTS, ensuring the consistent provision of quality services in line with the goals and objectives of the City of Chillicothe and the Chillicothe Transit System.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. Provides a vision for staff aligned with CTS service philosophy and values.
2. Ensures quality services and continuous improvement.
3. Ensures compliance with standards set by Ohio Department of Transportation, Federal Transit Administration, Ohio Family and Social Services Administration, Ohio Division of Developmental Disabilities Administration, and other regulatory agencies.
4. Monitors the achievement of goals and objectives; provides technical assistance to staff as needed.
5. Oversees the compilation of statistical data, ensuring all required reports are completed.
6. Relays pertinent information through monthly and quarterly reports to the Mayor, ODOT, and via direct communication as needed.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE/TRAINING:

Baccalaureate education, professional licensure, or 10+ years of experience. Experience in grant writing and/or grant management. Strong communication skills, including written, oral, and presentation skills. Organizational and decision-making skills. Valid driver's license and evidence of insurability.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

Advanced degree in planning, public administration, business, logistics, or related fields. Experience in public transportation and knowledge of ODOT regulations. Experience in strategic planning, development, performance, and data tracking.
