Job Title:Access Specialist, Buckeye Commons Department:Student Life | Disability Services

This position serves as the student engagement arm of Student Life Disability Services, housed within The Buckeye Commons. The goal is to ensure all Ohio State students are receiving consistent support, learning, growth opportunities, and finding community. This position serves as a resource and critical partner in creating content and programs that benefit students with disabilities. Provides leadership and oversight for educational opportunities and engagement programs for students with disabilities. Provides educational offerings to students via workshops and engagement opportunities related to student academic and social success strategies specifically for the most common student disabilities identified on campus (e.g., ADHD, learning disabilities, psychological conditions). Collaborates with campus partners and organizations including but not limited to Counseling and Consultation Service, the Dennis Learning Center, and the Civil Rights Compliance Office, and Buckeye Careers, on the creation of educational materials aimed at supporting and educating students. Identifies and researches new and emerging pedagogies, and best practices related to engaging and supporting students with disabilities. Develops cross-campus partnerships to advance awareness of student disability support. Manages no more than a 20% caseload of students with disabilities. Occasional evening/weekend presence may be required

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in education, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • 4 years of relevant experience.

  • 2 years of professional work experience in student development, student disabilities, and/or student support.

  • Experience in creating educational offerings focused on disabilities or access.

  • Experience building cross-campus partnerships.

  • Experience in creating or overseeing student support or educational programs.

  • Successful completion of a background check.

Desired Qualifications:

  • 4 to 8 years of professional work experience in an institution of higher education and/or non-profit sector.

  • 2 years' experience in presenting, public speaking, and creating accessible content.

  • Experience and knowledge of the Federal, State, and University laws and policies related to serving students with disabilities, Awareness of the services, policies, and procedures of Student Life Disabilities Services.

  • Ability to read and interpret psychoeducational assessments.

  • Experience in designing workshops and support programs for students with diagnosed psychological and learning disabilities.

Additional Information:

Hiring range is $51,500 to $67,250. The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, the unit's available budget, and the selected candidate's qualifications.
