Under the supervision of the CAU Supervisor, this position is responsible for researching, compiling, and analyzing information for the purpose of preparing crime analysis reports, maintain department statistics, and create reports used by the Police department to deter crime. In addition, this position identifies, analyzes, and conducts research on social media various open source sites to aid in the identification or apprehension of known criminals. This position requires excellent communication skills in order to communicate accurate information. The Crime Analyst is a full time position that is part of the Division of Police, classified civil service, non-exempt (overtime eligible) and exempt from a union. Essential Functions Reviews the departments calls, reports, and other information to identify crime trends. Prepares reports for patrol, investigators, and others in order to focus on crime prevention efforts.
