Ohio Research Scholar In Sensor Systems

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at The Ohio State University invites applications for the position of Ohio Research Scholar in Sensing Systems, a tenured faculty position at the rank of full professor. The research area is broadly defined to apply to different areas including, but not limited to RF, mmWave, sub-mmWave systems, electro-optical systems, sensor signal processing, and others. Successful applicants are expected to establish synergistic intellectual bridges between multiple groups such as Electro Science Lab, Solid State, Circuits, Power and Energy, Signals and Systems, Networking, and Control. The research area must complement the current research portfolio. This position will start as early as Autumn 2026 Semester.

The position is open to applicants who may require sponsorship for a visa or other work authorization.

Performance objectives include contributing to research activities in the Electrical and Computer Engineering program and developing and maintaining a nationally and internationally recognized externally funded research program in their technical fields. Additionally, applicants should teach and mentor students at both the undergraduate and graduate levels and supervise students and postdoctoral research. Participation in service to the university and the international research community is also required.

Education and experience requirements include a Ph.D. in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a closely related field. Evidence of demonstrated efforts in research, teaching, and/or outreach and engagement that reflect Ohio State's Shared Values is required. Experience with interdisciplinary research and education, engagement with industrial or government partners for external funding, a strong record of an externally funded and productive research program, a demonstrated track record of leadership and collaboration in an academic environment, experience and training in mentoring and teaching skills are desired.

The final offer for this position will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications and experience. Salary and start-up packages are negotiated by the department chair and may vary depending on individual circumstances. Your mentoring philosophy, describe previous mentoring training and/or experience, state mentoring skills you consider fundamental, including those necessary to effectively mentor students from any cultural background.
  • Attachment 4: Research Statement. Write 1-2 pages, single spaced narrative that includes: your research questions and their importance; how your research contributes to your field; research plan and future research directions; identify potential collaborations and funding sources; broader impacts of your research; plan for student engagement in your research program.
  • Attachment 5: Leadership Statement. A statement of your approaches, experiences, and plans for leadership as they apply to the Ohio Research Scholar position.
