Aldea Services Inc, a national engineering firm, is seeking a Tunnel Engineer in our Columbus, OH office. The successful candidate will have a minimum of twelve (12) years working on geotechnical, underground, tunnel, or trenchless construction projects, including both design and construction management roles. Preferred experience and qualifications are described as follows:

• Management: Experience successfully managing tasks, projects, and technical staff.
• Communication: Strong communication skills. Communicate technical and non-technical information in a concise, professional manner, including participation in technical meetings and workshops with owners, contractors, and other stakeholders.
• Business Development: Demonstrated success developing relationships with clients and contributing to business growth.
• Water and Wastewater Design: Experience with tunnel and trenchless design and construction of municipal water and wastewater conveyance facilities.
• Engineering Designs: Prepare construction plans and specifications, structural/geotechnical calculations and design reports, and technical memoranda.
• Design Calculations: Ability to produce design calculations (including numerical analysis) as required in support of tunnel and trenchless design including support of excavation (shafts & tunnels – including connection details and complex structures), and adherence to all local and national codes of practice for concrete, steel, and timber design.
• Geotechnical Field Investigations: Experience overseeing the completion of geotechnical investigations in both soil and rock geology.
• Geotechnical Parametric Studies/Evaluations: Ability to develop design parameters from geotechnical reports.
• Construction Management: Experience serving in a management or support role during the construction of tunnel or trenchless projects.
• Technical Writing: Proficiency in preparation of Technical Memoranda, Geotechnical Data Reports (GDR's), and Geotechnical Baseline Reports (GBR's)
• Company Representation: Increase Aldea's visibility with internal and external professionals by participating in regional initiatives, conferences, committees, and community associations, including any identified industry activities.

Minimum Requirements

• Candidates MUST be legally authorized to work in the United States and must have proof of employment eligibility in the United States.
• Bachelor's Degree in relevant area of study
• Minimum of twelve (12) years of experience in geotechnical, tunnel, trenchless, or underground projects

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional Engineer (PE) License in Ohio
• Master's or Doctoral degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Geology, or related field
• Experience delivering tunnel and trenchless solutions for projects in soft ground and hard rock
• Experience supervising geotechnical investigations
• Experience in the planning, design and construction of tunnel and trenchless projects
• Excellent problem solving, decision making and teamwork skills
• Excellent technical writing skills and attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills, a thorough knowledge of relevant technical codes, operations, processes, and trends
• Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, contractors, and clients
• Ability to work independently, exercise independent judgment, interact with other staff, collaborate with other disciplines, and mentor junior staff
