Purpose statement: The Business Office Director provides Revenue Cycle direction and guidance to the Business Office.

Responsibilities

  • Completes accounts receivable reviews and assists with patient accounts that are not meeting Revenue Cycle key indicator goals including cash collections, AR days, bad debt, and denials.
  • Provides training for all business office staff. Assists with intake and UR staff trainings regarding patient demographic, insurance information, eligibility, and denials.
  • Monitors billing and collection processes and implements procedures to ensure timely submission and collections.
  • Monitors staff time, schedules, and time off requests.
  • Mentors and counsels staff.
  • Establishes relationships with other hospital departments, payors, and vendors.
  • Prepares verbal and written reports of financial activity for the CFO and Corporate as required (daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, etc.).
  • Maintains masterfiles in the patient accounting system.
  • Provides assistance and guidance when setting up new services.

Physical/Mental Requirements

  • Must be able to perform essential functions listed on the job description, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Must be able to sit and stand, intermittent 8 to 10 hours a day.
  • Maintains regular and predictable attendance.
  • Must be able to speak to a medium-sized audience with and without the use of a microphone.
  • Must be able to use standard office equipment, including the telephone and computer keyboard.
  • Works under pressure to achieve near-100% accuracy while meeting inflexible deadlines.
  • Utilizes manual/bi-manual dexterity, near vision, speech, and hearing.
  • Frequently stands, walks, sits and uses eye/hand coordination and color definition.
  • Occasionally reaches above shoulder; regularly required to lift and/or carry up to 20 lbs.
  • Occasionally walks on uneven surfaces.
  • Ability to travel a minimum of 80% including flying and driving rental cars.
  • Must be able to transport own suitcases and computer estimated at 25 pounds for travel.

Licenses/Designations/Certifications

REQUIRED:

Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in a business-related field.

Work Conditions/Hours

Normal hours are 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday – Friday. However, schedules may vary in accordance with business necessity. Typical office working conditions.
