About the Company



Tutor Intelligence builds advanced robotic systems that automate complex, repetitive work — from warehouse operations to manufacturing environments. Our robots are deployed across the U.S. at leading logistics, manufacturing, and consumer goods facilities. We're growing quickly and are seeking a Travel Maintenance Technician to support our Midwest Region, ensuring our robotic palletizing systems perform reliably and efficiently at multiple customer sites.



About the Role



This is a hands-on, customer-facing field role for someone who loves to travel, enjoys problem-solving, and thrives in dynamic environments. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, working knowledge of pneumatics, and comfort interacting directly with customers. You'll primarily support our Midwest sites (Ohio, Illinois, Indiana, Pennsylvania) but may occasionally travel outside the region and visit our Boston, MA headquarters once per quarter for training, alignment, and process updates.



Responsibilities



  • Perform preventative maintenance, upgrades, and field repairs on robotic palletizing systems.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic issues using standard procedures and diagnostic tools.
  • Execute maintenance SOPs, assembly documentation, and test procedures with high accuracy.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with manufacturing and engineering teams to identify root causes and implement improvements.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, including service logs, parts consumption, and corrective actions.
  • Provide on-site training to operators on robot inspection, cleaning, and care procedures.
  • Represent Tutor Intelligence with professionalism and accountability during all customer interactions.


Regional Coverage & Travel Schedule



  • Primary States Covered: Ohio, Illinois, Indiana, Pennsylvania
  • Travel Expectations:
  • Travel up to 75% of the time, sometimes on short notice.
  • Quarterly travel to Boston, MA headquarters for training and team syncs.
  • Occasional travel outside the region to support installations or urgent service events.


Service Cadence & Sample Monthly Rotation



Service Cadence:

  • Ohio: Visit 3× per month (largest regional operation)
  • Illinois, Indiana, Pennsylvania: Visit each site at least 1× per month


Sample Monthly Rotation:

  • Week 1: Ohio – Routine maintenance and hardware upgrades
  • Week 2: Illinois – Preventive maintenance and performance validation
  • Week 3: Indiana – Field service and audit support
  • Week 4: Pennsylvania & Ohio – Retrofit work, PMs, and performance checkouts
  • Quarterly: Boston HQ – team sync, technical workshops, and process updates



Qualifications



  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a traveling field or maintenance technician in robotics, automation, or electromechanical systems
  • Solid understanding of mechanical systems, pneumatics, and basic electrical troubleshooting
  • Proficient with hand tools, torque tools, and diagnostic instruments
  • Able to read wiring diagrams and mechanical schematics
  • Strong communication skills and comfort engaging with customer operations staff
  • Self-starter who can work independently with minimal supervision
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel extensively within the region


Preferred Skills


  • Experience with robotics systems
  • Basic conversational Spanish or French
  • Familiarity with Lean manufacturing and 5S principles
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent hands-on experience


Pay range and compensation package


  • Base Salary: Based on experience
  • Per Diem and Overtime Eligibility for travel
