As a Manager of Data Engineering, you will lead a team that designs and implements complex cloud analytics solutions, focusing on Databricks, to deliver significant business value for our clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Translate business requirements into technical specifications.
- Design, build, and operate scalable data architecture and modeling solutions.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends.
- Lead workstream delivery, ensuring quality and adherence to processes.
- Engage with clients daily, participating in working sessions and identifying service opportunities.
- Implement resource plans and budgets while managing engagement economics.
- Travel regularly as needed to meet client requirements.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field (Master's preferred).
- 4–6 years of data engineering experience with a focus on cloud solutions and analytics.
- Proven expertise in Databricks and Spark for big‑data processing.
- Strong background in data architecture, design, and cloud analytics solutions.
- Experience leading and mentoring data engineering teams.
- Strong programming skills in Python, Scala, or SQL.
- Excellent problem‑solving, communication, and client‑management skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment.
Required Expertise for Managerial Role
- Strategic leadership aligning data initiatives with organizational goals.
- Project management experience for multiple concurrent projects.
- Stakeholder engagement, including executive interactions.
- Change, risk, and documentation management.
- Technical leadership guiding architectural decisions.
Large‑Scale Implementation Programs
- Enterprise Data Lake: Designed and deployed a cloud‑based data lake for a Fortune 500 retailer, integrating ERP, POS, and e‑commerce data.
- Real‑Time Analytics Platform: Led the development of a Databricks‑based real‑time fraud‑detection system for a financial services client.
- Data Warehouse Modernization: Modernized a legacy warehouse to a cloud‑native architecture for a healthcare provider, improving data accessibility.
