Job Description
Title: Field Service Engineer
Location: Columbus, OH
Pay Rate: $35-$45/hour + mileage reimbursement + 5% bonus (based on location, experience, education, and skill level)
Schedule: Always on-call (nights, weekends, holidays)
Hours: 40-50 hours per week on average
Travel: 100% regional travel required
Vehicle: Must use personal vehicle
Overtime: Paid at 1.5x
Company credit card provided for gas, parking, meals, and job-related expenses
Requirements
- 3-5 years of electrical experience, including high-voltage work
- Strong troubleshooting and technical skills
- Excellent client communication and customer service abilities
- Must be reliable, flexible, and comfortable working on-call
- Perform installation supervision, testing, commissioning, maintenance, and repair of low-voltage distribution gear, transformers, and related power equipment
- Prepare technical reports, test sheets, and track tools, spare parts, and consumables
- Follow safety regulations for both company standards and customer sites
- Attend onsite meetings and coordinate with Project Management teams
- Communicate regularly with Project Managers to share updates and escalate needs
- Deliver high-quality customer service and represent the company professionally
- Identify opportunities to improve processes and reduce waste
- Comply with all company policies, procedures, and safety requirements
- Perform additional duties as needed
- Associate degree in Electrical Power Distribution or 5+ years of relevant field service experience
- Military experience preferred
- Data center or mission-critical system experience a plus
- Hands-on experience with:
- Electrical power distribution systems
- Power monitoring systems
- AC/DC electrical power
- Communication protocols - 3-5 years experience with low-voltage switchgear or power distribution equipment (preferred)
- Knowledge of UL standards (UL67, UL1008, UL1008S, UL60950, UL891, UL1558, etc.)
- Ability to read electrical schematics
- Ability to use electrical test equipment (multimeters, current meters, etc.)
