Position Summary

The Scheduler - Food Production will be responsible for creating and maintaining daily and weekly production schedules for the Westerville bakery. This position ensures efficient use of labor, equipment, and materials to meet customer demand while maintaining high standards of product quality and food safety. The scheduler will collaborate closely with production supervisors, procurement, maintenance, R&D and distribution teams to align production priorities with capacity and resource availability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain production schedules based on sales forecasts, inventory levels, and capacity constraints per direction of Planning.
  • Coordinate with operations, procurement, and quality teams to ensure raw materials and packaging are available for scheduled runs.
  • Monitor production performance and adjust schedules in real-time to manage unplanned downtime or changing priorities.
  • Communicate schedule updates and changes effectively to production team, warehouse, and planning teams.
  • Review & generate daily / weekly output and performance metrics to drive schedule adherence & attainment and operational efficiency.
  • Maintain master production data in ERP or planning systems.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to optimize scheduling, reduce waste, and improve throughput.
Work Environment
  • Office and bakery floor setting, requiring close coordination with production teams.
  • Must be able to walk the production floor as needed.
  • Standard working hours 830-430pm M-F w/ support to PM crews as needed.

Education:
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, Operations Management, or related field preferred.
Experience:
  • 2+ years of experience in production scheduling, planning, or coordination within a food manufacturing or bakery environment.
  • Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing workflows and capacity planning.
Skills:
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and scheduling software/tools.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to interact across multiple departments.
  • Detail-oriented and able to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
  • Knowledge of food safety standards (e.g., GMP, HACCP) a plus.
