Position Summary

The Production Scheduler Food Production is a critical role responsible for building, maintaining, and optimizing daily and weekly production schedules for our Westerville bakery. This role is a key operational partner, ensuring the effective alignment of labor, equipment, and materials to meet customer demand while upholding the highest standards of product quality, food safety, and operational efficiency.

This position collaborates cross-functionally with Production, Procurement, Maintenance, R&D, and Distribution to ensure schedules are realistic, achievable, and responsive to changing business needs. Bottom line: this role keeps the operation moving and the plan on track.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain daily and weekly production schedules based on sales forecasts, inventory levels, and capacity constraints, in alignment with Planning direction.
  • Partner closely with Operations, Procurement, and Quality teams to ensure raw materials and packaging are available to support scheduled production runs.
  • Monitor production performance and proactively adjust schedules in real time to address unplanned downtime, labor challenges, or shifting priorities.
  • Communicate schedule updates clearly and consistently to Production, Warehouse, and Planning teams to drive alignment and execution.
  • Review, analyze, and generate daily and weekly production output and performance metrics to support schedule adherence, attainment, and continuous improvement.
  • Maintain and manage master production data within ERP and/or planning systems.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives aimed at optimizing scheduling processes, reducing waste, improving throughput, and increasing overall operational effectiveness.
Qualifications
Education
  • Associates or Bachelors degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field preferred.
Experience
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in production scheduling, planning, or coordination within a food manufacturing or bakery environment.
  • Hands?on experience with ERP/MRP systems (Oracle, SAP, or similar).
  • Solid understanding of manufacturing workflows, capacity planning, and production constraints.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and scheduling tools.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem?solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively across multiple departments and levels of the organization.
  • Detail?oriented, highly organized, and capable of managing competing priorities in a fast?paced environment.
  • Working knowledge of food safety standards such as GMP and HACCP is a plus.
  • Combination of office?based work and time spent on the bakery production floor.
  • Must be comfortable walking the production floor and engaging directly with operations teams.
  • Standard working hours are 8:30 AM 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday, with flexibility to support PM crews as business needs require.
