Job Details

Performs a variety of scheduled and unscheduled maintenance functions in an institutional environment. These functions may include both preventative and repair services, requiring carpentry, automotive, masonry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, locksmith, and mechanical knowledge. These tasks willbe accomplished in a correctional institutionand may require the ability to work independently and without direct supervision.

• Constant regard mustbemaintained in following all security andsafety protocols. Themaintenance person within the correctional facility must comply with all rules and regulations.

• Theabilitytoworkinclose proximitytoinmatesisrequired.

• The maintenance person musteffectively diagnose maintenance issues andconsider the appropriate course of action or alternative courses of action if applicable.

• The maintenance person must work well under pressure, have the ability to adapt to changing conditions and circumstances, and demonstrate a high level of initiative.

• The maintenance person must maintain an appropriate awareness of cost control and proper utilization of resources.

• Theabilitytoeffectivelyprioritizetasksandmakesound decisions.

• The maintenance person must possess a high school diploma or its equivalent.

• Prior experience in a trade of skilled labor position is beneficial.

• Experienceandknowledgeofcorrectionsand institutionaloperationsispreferred.

• Ability to operate a variety of heavy equipment (snow plows, dump truck, tractor).
• A valid driver's license is required.
• Acriminalhistorycheckwillbecompleted.
