This role leads a comprehensive approach to reducing chronic absenteeism and increasing student success by aligning attendance systems, family outreach, intervention supports, and community-based resources. The Senior Director ensures that schools implement consistent, data-driven attendance and family engagement practices that proactively identify barriers to student success, strengthen school-family relationships, and connect students and families to needed supports and opportunities. This position serves as the district's lead for attendance strategy, family engagement systems, and community partnership development, ensuring alignment with School Stat priorities, MTSS frameworks, and district performance goals. Certification Requirements (NJDOE-Aligned) In accordance with: * N.J.A.C. 6A:9B Required: * Master's Degree from an accredited college or university
* Required criminal history background check, physical and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status
* A valid driver's license or state issued ID, valid insurance and registration Preferred / Additional Qualifications: * Master's Degree in education, social work, public administration, or related field
* New Jersey Supervisor, Principal certification
* Experience in family engagement, community outreach, or school leadership Qualifications * Master's Degree from an accredited college or university
* Minimum:
* Five (5) years successful teaching or student services experience
* Three (3) years of leadership experience (school or district level) * Demonstrated expertise in:
* Attendance systems and chronic absenteeism reduction
* Family engagement systems and outreach strategies
* Community partnership development
* Data analysis and intervention planning * Strong knowledge of:
* Attendance laws and regulations
* MTSS frameworks and intervention systems
* Barriers to attendance and family engagement in urban school Core Responsibilities Attendance Strategy and System Design (OWNER) Lead the development of a comprehensive districtwide attendance strategy. * Establish attendance expectations and accountability systems
* Ensure consistency in attendance practices across schools
* Align attendance systems with district priorities and School Stat processes
* Develop proactive systems for identifying and supporting at-risk students Chronic Absenteeism Reduction (OWNER) Drive districtwide efforts to reduce chronic absenteeism. * Identify students and schools with high absenteeism rates
* Develop targeted intervention strategies
* Monitor progress and adjust strategies based on outcomes
* Support principals and school teams with attendance action planning Family Engagement Systems (OWNER) Lead districtwide family engagement systems and practices. * Establish expectations for school-based family engagement
* Support schools in developing and implementing engagement plans
* Increase meaningful family participation in schools
* Ensure family engagement practices are inclusive and accessible Community Partnerships (OWNER) Develop and manage partnerships that support students and families. * Build relationships with community organizations, nonprofit agencies, and civic partners
* Align partnerships to student and family needs
* Expand access to resources, services, and opportunities
* Coordinate attendance and engagement-related community initiatives Family Outreach and Communication (OWNER) Strengthen communication and outreach efforts with families. * Coordinate outreach to families of chronically absent students
* Ensure communication practices are clear, accessible, and multilingual
* Support schools in strengthening family-school relationships
* Develop strategies that increase family connection to schools Data Monitoring and Accountability (OWNER) Ensure attendance and engagement systems are driven by data. * Monitor attendance trends and key indicators
* Develop attendance dashboards and reporting systems
* Align attendance data to School Stat processes
* Support principals in using data to drive action and interventions Alignment with MTSS and Student Support Systems (OWNER) Ensure attendance and engagement systems align with intervention frameworks. * Coordinate with MTSS and student support teams
* Align interventions with Tier 1, 2, and 3 supports
* Support early identification and intervention for at-risk students
* Address barriers impacting attendance and engagement Supervision and Staff Management (OWNER) Lead and develop attendance and family engagement staff. * Supervise attendance officers, family liaisons, engagement staff, and partnership coordinators
* Provide coaching, feedback, and operational oversight
* Ensure consistency of implementation across schools
* Build staff capacity and accountability Cross-Departmental Alignment (NES Integration) Ensure alignment across district systems and departments. * Collaborate with:

* Cross-functional collaboration Terms of Employment Twelve-month position. Salary, benefits, and conditions of employment shall be in accordance with Board policy and applicable agreements. Evaluation Performance shall be evaluated annually in accordance with Board policy, administrative regulations, and district leadership procedures. Reports To: Executive Director of Family & Community Engagement Supervises: Attendance officers, family liaisons, engagement coordinators, and assigned staff Work Year: Twelve (12) Months Classification: Non-Affiliated Administrator Minimum Starting Salary: $120,000.00 Maximum Starting Salary: $150,000.00 Residency Requirement Under New Jersey's "New Jersey First Act" (N.J.S.A. 52:14-7), all employees of New Jersey public school districts must maintain bona fide New Jersey residency as a condition of employment. Candidates must already reside in New Jersey or establish residency within the required timeframe after hire. Current employees who were hired on or before September 1, 2011areexemptfrom this requirement and may continue to reside outside the state. In limited circumstances, applicants may request a residency waiver through the state's Employee Residency Review Committee if they can demonstrate critical need or hardship; approval is not guaranteed.
