Be the Eyes for Safe and Compliant Communities!The Department of Planning and Permitting (DPP), Customer Service Office has one (1) vacancy for a Housing-Zoning Code Inspector I located in Honolulu. This position conducts inspections of lodging houses, residences, and other structures to ensure compliance with Housing and Zoning Codes, issue citations, recommend corrective actions, and maintain inspection records and reports.What You Will DoConduct Housing & Zoning Inspections of residences, rooming houses, lodging units, and similar structures for code compliance.Identify Safety and Health Hazards including structural, electrical, mechanical, fire, and sanitation issues.Investigate Potential Zoning Violations through site inspections, interviews, and review of departmental records.Recommend Citations and Corrective Actions for Housing and Zoning Code violations.Assist with Investigations and Legal Support by gathering evidence for enforcement and legal proceedings.Inspect Sidewalks and Vacant Lots and issue citations, work orders, or referrals as directed.Perform other related duties as needed.Special Working ConditionsDrive to various inspection sites to perform inspections and related duties.BenefitsEnjoy excellent employment benefits including generous time off (up to 21 vacation days, 21 sick leave days, and holidays), comprehensive health coverage, retirement plan, career development, and much more.Education RequirementEquivalent to graduation from high school.
